[Announce-DAN] 2nd Annual Toy Drive

The Westside Outreach Center and the Urban Citizen are hosting the second annual Toy Drive for kids in poverty.  The gig is this:  kids are identified and their parents fill out a 'wish-list' for their babes.  Students at the Westside Outreach Center and the Urban Citizen do all they can to get the kiddo's everything on their list (totalling 3 items).  Last year, we were able to get 52 kids every thing on their wish list, ranging anywhere from a new bike to a trumpet to a cd player.  we were also able to get their moms something.  

we want to do the same thing this year.  because last year was such a success, we have more people on the list.  JC Penney's in Aurora has agreed to donate "credit", so to speak, to the Westside Outreach Center to buy items for the kids.  the amount of credit will be determined on how many hours of donated service we can get people to do.  so, a person working a 4 hour shift at JCPenney's folding clothes or whatever will give the wages they would've earned to the "credit" box.  afterwards, WOC will use that credit to buy gifts for the kids.  

we are short on people willing to help out and would appreciate any help people can give.  jerry jacks, a professor for UCD, is helping to coordinate the JCPenney's gig.  JC Penneys wants folks to come this weekend, and there may be some other times to do it.  if you are interested, please email jerry (address below) to get the details.  or feel free to call me and i will get any info i can. Although some of you have volunteered to help the Teddy Bear Thon at JCPenny
we could use more help.  We need people there from 9-1 and 1-5 or
latter.  Please respond to this email if you can help...It will be
appreciated.

Remember it will be at the Aurora Mall JCPenny.

When you get there go to the receptionist desk and tell them you are
from ucd and they will log in the time you arrived and then log out before
you leave this is very important because the time won't be recorded otherwise.

In any event answer this email so I will have a general idea of how
many will be there.
