Hey everyone,

Just to let you know, I'm looking for some help in advertising the
Radical Cheerleader's Conference in Ottawa on the Carleton University
campus coming up on March 23-25 (Friday-Sunday).

     What is radical cheerleading you ask? It's reclaiming cheerleading
as it was meant to be! Radical activists from across North America
gathering to shout it loud and proud that it's time for change. This
is
a great opportunity to get more creative in your activism or prepare a
routine, performance or a series of creative choreographed chants for
Quebec City in April! It doesn't matter what movement(s) you're
working
on right now, this is the kind of activism that can be expanded to any
issue...and it gets you attention.

     Protesting against globalization? Great! For animal rights?
Fantastic! Working toward breaking down age, gender, ability, race, or
class bias? Amazing! Health issues? Wicked. You're all welcome to come
together and learn or teach people more about radical cheerleading.

     It will be a fantastic weekend together open to men, womyn and
trans
people designed to help share ideas, communicate, network, advertise
upcoming events and learn from each other. You can also indulge in a
little performance or voyeurism if you want! A little closer to the
conference date, I'll be setting up an evening performance schedule
for
the Friday and Saturday to give each group/troupe an opportunity to
show
off if they're interested.

     I'm in the middle of applying for funding and I'm keeping my
fingers
crossed that we'll get enough funding to provide food and drink for
everyone involved, and maybe even ease transportation costs. Depending
on the numbers, billetting may be available.

In the meantime, I'm asking for some help in getting the masses out to
what will be a wicked conference by doing the following:

1.    Would you consider putting on a workshop on radical cheerleading
on your campus, or in a local resource or community centre and
announce
the conference while everyone's pumped about learning more?

2.    Would you call or e-mail every awesome activist or interesting
person you know in your area and gage interest in this conference? If
people are interested, please e-mail me privately at
kamaclea@chat.carleton.ca.

3.    Would you make posters or send e-mails advertising for the
conference leading up to the conference?

     Let me know so we can set up a network and go to the next level of
planning for this conference!!!

     If you're still interested in coming, please e-mail me and let me
know the approximate numbers of people from your city/friend circle
who
you think would be interested in coming. The more people we have, the
less the registration costs. If you would rather not be contacted
about
this, please write me back and let me know as soon as possible.
