[announce-denvergreens] Hearings/Protests/Meetings

Hi Y'all,

Here's a list of upcoming hearings/protests/meetings during the next
couple of weeks:

1) GENETICALLY ENGINEERED FOOD LABELING BILL HEARING - Today, Monday 2/12
. . . a committee hearing will be held at 1:00 pm at the State Capitol,
Senate Room 354 . . . the public has an opportunity to speak at this
hearing.  For more info call 303-447-2327. If you can't make it to the
hearing you can still write to your local newspaper, call your state
senator, and call friends all over Colorado to get in touch with their
senators.  According to Pete Maysmith of Common Cause . . . if a senator
or representative gets 10+ calls about a specific issue they begin to take
it seriously.  For more info on the bill check out

2) PEOPLE'S RALLY FOR AFFORDABLE UTILITIES - Wed., February 14th
   at 4 pm at Xcel Headquarters (17th and Lawrence - downtown).  If
inclined bring signs supporting the use of alternative energy sources such
as solar and wind power.  It's my understanding that despite public
support of wind energy Xcel has opted for development of Natural Gas
plants rather than expanding their wind energy facilities. Also wear
Green Party Paraphernalia ;)

3) MONTHLY DENVER GREEN PARTY MEETING - Tues., Feb. 20 at the Park Hill
Library (Montview & Dexter) at 6:30pm in the basement meeting room.  See
you there.
