A Real Debate?! October 20 6:00 P.M. C-Span
The conservative organization Judicial Watch hosts a presidential debate this
Friday evening, 6:00 PM RMT, that will include six of the seven candidates who
are contenders for winning the presidency (based on appearing on enough states’
ballots to have a mathematical chance to win a majority of electoral college
votes). John Hagelin, Al Gore, Ralph Nader, Pat Buchanan, Harry Browne, and
Howard Phillips have all accepted--only George W. Bush has not accepted. Thus
far, only C-Span has agreed to cover the event. See our debates page for
contact information for other networks to urge them to cover this or other
inclusive debates. www.JudicialWatch.org

Wednesday, October 25, 7:30 p.m.at Boulder Bookstore in Boulder
MICHAEL LERNER noted activist, author and rabbi speaks and discusses his new
book, Spirit Matters.
The current issue of the magazine he edits, Tikkun (available there), contains
the best exploration of the "vote your conscience" vs. "vote for the lesser
evil" question we've seen, with well written opinions from several
perspectives. It's a great read even if you know your position already.

Victory for Community Radio is Under Attack
In January, the FCC voted to create a new class of Low Power FM radio stations
to offer opportunities for community broadcasting by non-profit organizations.
In April, the House of Representatives bowed to pressure from incumbent
broadcasters and voted to gut the proposal.

Now, you have a chance to fight for community radio in the Senate. See
www.lowpowerradio.org for information and links to action targets at See

Help Create Change
Reclaim Democracy! supporter Bill Krause passes on this suggestion that he has
found successful in spreading awareness of vital issues: simply place copies of
Reclaim Democracy! flyers and newsletters in the break room at work, or other
places where folks are likely to pick up and read. Bill mentioned several
people learning about the Commission on Presidential Debates duopoly control by
doing this—give it a try. The debate flyers are downloadable from the web and
we’re happy to send brochures or newsletters to anyone willing to help get them
out, just call or email your request.
