i'm also sorry that karen came across as "snotty". she isn't, but 
her email did sound a bit harsh.

i must say using the word hysterical (most often used by men to 
put down angry women) was a bit inflammatory. emails to people 
you can't see and have no body cues for are tricky, particularly if 
one is expressing emotional issues.

chris was frustrated with getting too many emails (we've all been 
there!) not hysterical. that unfortunate choice of word enflamed the 
situation. i guess i'd suggest caution in using emotion-packed 
language in addressing problems via email. what seemed like 
flaming to chris i'm sure was intended. but we all need to express 
ourselves clearly and without judgmental language when 
responding to emails on listserves (in private, among friends, 
anything goes, but not on public venues).

a good Netiquette lesson for all of us.
