Fwd: El Salvador

Hey Greens,

This was sent to me from a friend of mine at work who goes down to El Salvador every summer to do volunteer work.  They're in desperate need of help since the earthquake, so whatever you can give, please do.

>Women for Dignity and Life (Las Dignas) is an internationally recognized
>feminist non-governmental organization in El Salvador which has mobilized to
>provide direct support to women and families in Usulatan, a poor rural area
>that was probably the region hardest hit by the devastating January 13
>earthquake. They are sending groups out daily to several communities in
>Usulatan with food, water, blankets and clothing. In some of these
>communities 100% of the homes were severely damaged or completely destroyed.
>
>Las Dignas and several other non-governmental organizations in El Salvador
>have noted that while the people are suffering from homelessness and hunger
>as a result of the devastation, the government is engaging in political
>infighting. They ask that those who want to send money should send it
>directly to a recognized non-governmental organization to be sure that it
>reaches the people who most need it.

>Funds for Las Dignas can be sent to Project Salvador in Denver, Colorado.
>Project Salvador will send 100% of the money directly to Las Dignas. No
>administrative costs will be taken out.
