This all sounds like pretty good advice to me. I'm happy for anyone who can get away from MS products, but linux is a long way from being usable by most people. I advise people to use Netscape messenger for thier email. I like it better than outlook or outlook express, and it doesn't have their virus problems.
I also recommend McAfee clinic as a virus checker. (www.mcafee.com)
It costs about $30/yr, but it's well worth it. It actually runs via the web, and the Active Shield part of it checks files, email, word docs, etc. and also tells you whenever there's a need to update your virus defs every day. It has caught several viruses that came in my email, even brand new ones, so so far I'm clean.
