Hi Colorado Nader 2000 Campus Campaigners,
You should have all recieved materials for your school by now. Let
me
know if you haven't or you don't know who the representative for your
school is.
Now that you have materials you should be tabling on your campus to
raise money and get students registered to vote. Although Nader 2000
is outreaching to everyone, we're really counting on students and
young people, traditionally known for their low turnout at the polls,
to be a large part of our vote on Nov. 7th. As if this isn't a tough
enough task, I recently heard a statistic that 74% of people ages
18-24 aren't familiar with Ralph's campaign for presidency. I
believe
if only 50% of students were familiar with the campaign, we could win
the student vote.
This is why whenever someone stops by the table, sends email, or
expresses interest, you should collect their phone number and mailing
address. The D.C. office wants you to report this to them, and they
will use the information for Get Out the Vote mailings and phoning in
October. Here is what they want (in this order) of anyone on your
campus who has talked to you about Nader 2000:
first_name
last_name
email
address_line1
address_line2
zip
daytime_phone
nighttime_phone
party_affiliation
level of support
Send this information to me <dhaley@greens.org> and I will get it to
the D.C. office.
Also, as you may have heard, the CPD debates are on:
October 3rd, UMass-Boston, First Presidential Debate
(www.bostoncan.net/o3b.html)
October 5th, Centre College, Danville KY, Vice-Presidential Debate
(www.kygreens.org)
October 11th, Wake Forest, Winston-Salem NC, Second Debate
(www.all4democracy.org)
October 17th, Washington University, St. Louis, Third Debate
(www.o17.org)
Without Ralph, these debates will epitomize the nonsense we're
fighting against. Please start writing letters to the editor to your
local campus/community newspaper and explian why people on your
campus
want Ralph in the debates. I will send tips for letter writing
shortly.
Thanks
Damon Haley
