Hi Colorado Campus Campaigners, here is some information that I found
relevant to student concerns. More to come. If any of you need
fliers, there are some great ones you can print at:
http://www.greens.org/colorado/nader2000/flyers.htm
Also I just found all of Ralph's stands on issues:
http://www.issues2000.org/Ralph_Nader.htm
If anyone gets a chance over the weekend, please post how campaigning
is going on your campus to nader-colo-students@egroups.com as we can
all share ideas on how to give Nader the student vote. I'll be
calling all the campus reps. next week to see how I can help.
Onwards

This Friday the 22nd at 5pm Pacific Time / 8pm Eastern Time, on
C-Span, Nader's huge "Super-Rally" at Target Corporation Center in
Minneapolis will be broadcast, in its entirety. Other speakers will
include Green Party VP Candidate Winona LaDuke, campaign finance
reform elder and rabble-rouser Granny D and populist filmmaker
Michael
Moore. After it's over, send an email to C-Span <online@c-span.org>
to
let them know that you very much appreciate this coverage, and want
to
see lots more Nader rallies and press conferences! And urge C-Span to
consider broadcasting at least one 4-way debate next month. We can't
allow the corporate-run and corporate-funded Commission on
Presidential Debates to get away with this crime against democracy.
Finally, see below for an excerpt from Michael Moore's latest
reflections on the Nader campaign.

Nader on Marijuana
Legalize marijuana, and treat addiction as a health problem
Nader spoke out for the legalization of marijuana. "Addiction
should
never be treated as a crime. It has to be treated as a health
problem.
We do not send alcoholics to jail in this country. Over 500,000
people
are in our jails who are nonviolent drug users." For other drugs,
like
heroin, he advocated programs like methadone maintenance and needle
exchanges that focus on treatment of addiction and prevention of
health problems.

Replace Drug War with treatment and alternative sentencing
Nader supports the Green Party Platform, which states:
We support decriminalization of "VICTIMLESS" CRIMES, for
example, the
possession of small amounts of marijuana.
We call for legalization of industrial hemp and all its many
uses.
We oppose the illicit activities of the international drug trade
and the illicit money laundering that often accompanies the drug
cartels. We call for a revised view of the "drug problem" and
an end
to the "war on drugs," recognizing that after over a decade
of
strident law-and-order posturing, the problems with hard drugs have
only worsened.
We call for expanding drug counseling and treatment for those
who
need it.
We believe mandatory drug testing violates civil rights;
therefore, we oppose mandatory testing.
We favor innovative sentencing and punishment options, including
community service for first-time offenders and "Drug Court"
diversion
programs. We support alternative sentencing for non-violent crimes.

Crazy Like a Fox
by James Ridgeway
Nader May Get Place at Debates Through Fox Simulcast
A villagevoice.com exclusive Wednesday, September 20—Green Party
candidate Ralph Nader may be locked out of the presidential debates,
but that hasn't stopped him from seeking a way in. Sources close to
the Nader campaign say representatives of the progressive
politician are talking to the Fox network about somehow including him
in the first debate, scheduled for October 3, via simulcast. The
candidate would sit before cameras, fielding the same questions the
debate moderator puts to Bush and Gore. His answers then could be
aired with clips of the debate. The Nader campaign spokesman refused
comment on any Fox negotiations.

------------------------------------------------------------------
Ralph has been pulling enormous crowds wherever he speaks. Over
10,000 paid $7 each to hear him in Portland (2,000 were turned away).
Neither Bush nor Gore have had a crowd this size come to any of their
events -- including their own conventions!
When Gore came to Flint on Labor Day, late in the evening, he could
barely get a few hundred to show up -- in the capital of American
Labor! In fact, in order to guarantee an audience, they took Gore to
the city hospital to speak.
That is definitely one place where you have a captive audience --
bedridden and medicated is perhaps the best way to listen to our vice
president!
So, please -- come out and let the country see that there are
millions
who want a real choice on the ballot and REAL change in the country.
Even if you haven't yet decided to vote for Ralph, I'm sure you know
how important it is to keep Bush/Gore's feet to the fire.
Yours,
Michael Moore
