Tanya Ishikawa of Westminster was elected to a two-year term as secretary of the Green Party of Colorado at the annual meeting on Saturday, July 9. Ishikawa is a member of the Jeffco Green Party, and has previously served as chair of the legislative committee.
"The Green Party is only 10 years old in Colorado and we have a lot of growing to do," said Ishikawa, a freelance writer. "As secretary, I want to continue helping with outreach and educating voters about the full scope of our party philosophy, which addresses the whole range of local concerns from our promotion of clean air to support of our small businesses and creation of fair elections."
The meeting brought together 9 chapters of the Green Party, including Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Jeffco, Mesa, Poudre Valley, San Miguel, Summit County and the Royal Gorge Greens.
Also elected at the meeting were Charlie Green of the Royal Gorge Greens as Co-Chair, Tom Kelly of the Arapahoe Green Party as Co-chair, and Dan Sage of the Arapahoe Green Party as Treasurer.
Other meeting business included a resolution seeking the impeachment of President George W. Bush and discussion of 2006 election candidates.
