GREENS FROM AROUND THE WORLD WILL ATTEND THE GREEN PARTY CONVENTION IN DENVER
DENVER, COLORADO -- Along with Green Party delegates and observers representing states from across America, Greens and Green elected officials from around the world will attend the Green National Nominating Convention at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver, Colorado on June 24 and 25. The convention will also welcome members of the American Reform Party (ARP) that plans to help Green presidential candidate Ralph Nader win votes.
ARP is part of the schism that resulted when many Reform Party members objected to founder H. Ross Perot’s strong hold on the party’s agenda and to the likely nomination of Pat Buchanan as the national candidate at the Reform Party convention in August. ARP members include supporters of former Colorado Governor Dick Lamm and Minnesota Governor Jesse Ventura who have begun to campaign for Mr. Nader.
Greens in the United States see themselves as part of a worldwide Green movement to restore the health of the planet, to challenge the anti-democratic power of global corporations, and to seek social, economic, and environmental justice through direct political action and involvement.
The convention is being organized by the Association of State Green Parties, the official partner of the European Federation of Green Parties, which consists of 30 national European parties. The list of Greens from outside the US who will attend the convention includes:
Alex Gonzalez, Green Party of Peru
Arnold Jager, Green Ecologist Party of Mexico
