Commit to prepare for ballot access

We will need every single one of you to commit to 2-3 hours a month at a minimum. When we get ready to petition for ballot access, we are going to need everyone to commit to a full week-end or two during that two month window. Please get ready. Without you this won’t happen. Start by making a 3 hour commitment per month now. Call me to see where you can help.

Highjack message by far right

There is concern that if the progressive activists do not get really rolling very fast, the far right radicals will highjack the entire movement, because they often share some of the GP values (for example against the undue influence of corporations) but they mix in a racist anti-choice message. Pat Buchanan is a good example of that. This is what happened to the Populist movement.

Not forced to act

After we present the actions for the month, I want everyone of you to chose one action. You are not forced to volunteer; but please translate your concerns into action. The only request is that you come through on your commitments.

MEETINGS ARE BORING…

As a last comment, I would like to mention that although our meetings are "happening" events they are usually pretty boring compared to action.

You would not believe how ready people are for the green message! I would like everyone to wear a GP button every time you go out of home. Or wear a T-shirt. Put one in your car. I often have people asking me what is the Green Party. We need to carry our message. It is really thrilling to get them enthused and say yes, yes!

FOR THOSE WHO DO NOT FEEL SURE about the message, I am passing out a simple outline that will help talk about the Green Party.

As you get involved, you will become more familiar with the issues. If you would like to get contacted when one of us gives a formal presentation or lecture on the media, corporate personhood, etc. please mark that on the volunteering sheet passed during the meeting.

GO TO A PUBLIC MEETING

On the sign-up sheet for volunteering action you will see three-four public meetings. We need to start showing up at those to network with these organizations and carry the green message. People are waiting for it. We also need to show that we really care, not only that we say it. We need at least 6 persons in each of the public demonstrations. For those who belong to another organization, please come see me; I would like to know about you.
