CFC Logistics' nuclear food irradiator in Milford Square, PA has
closed. The cobalt-60 will be shipped out. By their own admission,
after being open for
only 18 months, this irradiator is closing due to a lack of a market for their
product. They had been approved by the USDA to irradiate meat for the
National School Lunch Program. Nocobalt-4-food is proud to have played a
part in educating the public to the nuclear dangers of this facility and of
consuming irradiated food. Nocobalt was part of a local, national and
international effort to stop food irradiation. One of the founders of
this group, Green Party candidate Judy Szela, ran for supervisor in Milford
Township. She ran on one issue - the inherent dangers of the nuclear food
irradiator. She also launched International Anti-food Irradiation Day
which has been held the last two years on her farm in Milford Square located
one mile from the infamous nuclear food irradiator. This event has
evolved into International Anti-food Irradiation Week in many nations in Europe
and other countries around the world.
Let this be a lesson to us all - through unified efforts much can be
accomplished.
