Vote to build democracy!

Vote Green to build a new democractic party working for you!

The Green Party of Rhode Island (GPRI) believes the way to build democracy is from the ground up. Local campaigns fighting for local issues - issues ignored or given lip service by other political parties.

The Green Party is a democratic party that takes NO CORPORATE money. This way we owe no favors to special interests. This takes extra effort and a greater commitment to our values, but once elected you get real reform.

Don't vote for lip service, broken promises or compromise. Vote for values and higher standards!

The Green Party is the third largest political party in the United States with over 300,000 members nationwide. There are over 200 elected Greens in 26 states including Providence Councilman David Segal, the first Green elected in RI.

The Electoral College

Presidential elections are won state-by-state thanks to our outdated "Electoral College" voting system .

We have what are fifty separate elections in the US. One by one, the presidential candidate with the most votes in each state, wins that state's Electoral College votes. RI has only 4 Electoral College votes. Two hundred and seventy (270) electoral votes are needed to win the presidency. Some states have many more electoral votes than others (Florida has 25 electoral votes). This is why we need Instant Runoff Voting-IRV. In our current voting system the candidate with the most ELECTORAL votes, not INDIVIDUAL votes wins.

The Green Party is the third largest political party in RI and in the USA! HELP US FIGHT FOR REAL ELECTION REFORMS!

The Green Party believes in strong, grassroots democracy. We fight for: fair taxes; protecting civil liberties; immigration reform; keeping our streets and community safe. Issues that affect the lives of ALL Rhode Islanders.

Greens believe that our future depends on nonviolent conflict resolution. Greens work with the Center for Nonviolence at the University of Rhode Island, as well as local coalitions to address violence in our community.
