February, 2001

Dear Green or greenish friend,

Synthesis/Regeneration 24 (S/R) explores what the 2000 elections signify for the Greens, including debates on genuine unity. Articles document election results, describe consequences for Green supporters, suggest directions for future organizing, and challenge the Green commitment to fighting racism.

The wide diversity of views on political issues includes Frances M. Beal, Medea Benjamin, Mitchel Cohen, Richard Evanoff, Les Evenchick, Elizabeth Fattah, Don Fitz, Mike Feinstein, Mike Griffin, William T. Hathaway, Howie Hawkins, Steve Herrick, David McReynolds, Nancy Oden, Paul Prior, Starlene Rankin, Larry Rinehart, John Stith, Jeff Sutter, Barb Sweeney, Steve Welzer, Richard Whitney and Julia Willebrand, as well as statements from Green Parties of Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Virginia, St. Joe Valley, St. Louis and Syracuse.

Essays on biodevastation describe action campaigns against biotech fruit trees and a basmati rice patent, dangers of horizontal gene transfer and the failure of COP 6.
