Dear Green or greenish friend, The effects of climate change, peak oil and toxic production are here. We know it every time we see news of weather disasters and disappearing species. We feel it every time we buy gas. We hear it every time a child uses an asthma inhaler.

But how do we create a society without individual cars and the expanding mountains of garbage that are the real causes of environmental catastrophe? How do we reduce production without worsening the lives of low income Americans and the poor throughout the world?

The Synthesis/Regeneration editorial board invites readers to join us June 27-29, 2008 at Webster University in St. Louis for the roundtable discussion of "Surviving Climate Change: Producing Less and Enjoying it More." To find out more about the roundtable and to register, visit www.gateway-greens.org

Articles in the "Not Just a Better Light Bulb" section of the Summer 2008 Synthesis/Regeneration (No. 46) address many of the issues that will be discussed at the roundtable.
