This somewhat historic house, built c.1841, was moved c.1913 from Portage Ave. to its current location near Pinhook Park (3-1/3 miles north of downtown South Bend) and completely remodeled by a locally prominent architect. It was once known as "Woodlawn House."

Looking south (upstream) along St. Joseph river, toward South Bend. House is behind trees 50 yards south - beyond right edge of picture. There's a short trail going south along the river below the bluff. Canoe put-in places are nearby and the nearest dams are at Niles, Michigan (10 miles north) and downtown South Bend (3 miles south). The river empties into Lake Michigan 40 miles north at St. Joseph.
